The Port Adelaide players prevailed in a finals like battle against a nippy dogs outfit.

The game for some appeared boring but I am unsure why when it was a finals like game providing us with strong contests and many one on one battles with the deep flood and player sag off of modern day football not permitted.

Port appeared for the majority of the game to make the bulldogs players accountable which devoid their team of the run and carry highlighted throughout the season. This defensive aspect of the game was reflective by key midfielders Gray, Boak and Ebert down on their normal numbers, but the was no front running this week. Defensive aspects first was the motivation for the night.

Individual brilliance by both teams was shown throughout the night but exemplified by Robbie Grays first half, his ability to weave through contests like a knife through butter. Chad Wingard hands throughout the game were football porn. Ollie Wines back to true form with 33 possessions and ball winning ability.

The Power players did get sucked in to long kicks at times finding the dogs intercept markers highlighted by the star marker Wood but we were the fitter and smarter team over the journey.

Usually our NT travels result it fitness wear but not this season. We were the time on masters. Breaking the game at the end of each quarter and then superior fitness resulting in game breaking scoring power in the last.

Defense first was a highlight of the night with team defense supreme. Maligned Jasper Pittard was solid and unfairly criticized for a slip and a short kick but he wasn’t alone. Both teams struggled with the heavier atmosphere and numerous kicks falling short.  Jack Hombsch’s star is shining bright with another rock solid performance accompanied strongly by Alipate Carlile and third gamer Tom Cluery.

The star of the night was “the Chad” double digit score involvements, contested ball winning, strong making he had it all. He ended up being the game breaker for the power. Our fitness and tactics are starting to align now and the results are coming. Yes they aren’t against the top 4 bit those challenges will be coming soon. Hold onto the reigns tightly fans because it’s going to be an exciting ride into the finals.
